CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)
One-remote control commands that travel over HDMI; needed for ARC/eARC.
What is it?
CEC lets HDMI devices control each other: the TV remote controls the player, switching on the TV wakes the AVR, ARC/eARC audio return is negotiated over it. Every brand has its own name (Anynet+, Simplink, Bravia Sync, Viera Link). It can also cause unwanted behaviour, such as devices turning on by themselves.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
The HDfury Vertex² is a full CEC manager: it passes CEC between the inputs and TX0, can identify itself as a Video device or an Audio System (required for eARC), can watch routing commands and turn the TV on, and can send any CEC command by IP/RS232 — e.g. 'set ceccmd poweron' — so a control system can power the TV without IR.
How to use it on the Vertex²
OLED menu → CEC ON/OFF and CEC LA (logical address). Web server → CEC/RS232: enable CEC, CEC type, send test command, ARC/eARC options. Manual page 'Web Server – CEC / RS232 Section'.
