Colour space & primaries: BT.709, BT.2020, DCI-P3
How wide the palette of colours is: BT.709 for HD, DCI-P3 for cinema, BT.2020 for UHD/HDR.
What is it?
BT.709 is the HD/SDR colour gamut. DCI-P3 is the digital-cinema gamut (~25 % more colours) that most HDR content is actually mastered in. BT.2020 is the huge UHD container that HDR10 and Dolby Vision signals are packaged in — no consumer display covers it fully. The AVI infoframe tells the display which one is in use; if it is wrong, colours look dull or oversaturated.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
The HDfury Vertex² shows the colorimetry of every signal, converts colour space when scaling (RGB, 4:4:4/4:2:2/4:2:0 in BT.709 or BT.2020), and lets you rewrite the AVI infoframe — e.g. flag BT.2020 for a display that will not switch automatically. In the DV datablock the primaries you choose (BT.2020 vs DCI-P3) decide whether LLDV looks neutral or red-tinted.
How to use it on the Vertex²
Web server → SCALER → Colour space per output. Web server → HDR/DV → Primaries in the custom HDR metadata and DV datablock; Custom AVI infoframe generator → Primaries/Colorimetry → Create IF → Send AVI (advanced users).
