Upscaling & downscaling (4K ↔ 1080p, DCI 4K)
Changing resolution so every connected device gets the best signal it can accept.
What is it?
Upscaling converts 1080p to 4K (2160p), downscaling converts 4K to 1080p. DCI 4K is the cinema resolution 4096×2160 (vs. UHD 3840×2160). The Vertex² scales 4K24/25/30/50/60 to and from 1080p24/25/30/50/60, with or without keeping bit depth, and can convert chroma and colour space at the same time. Frame rate is never changed.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
This is how the HDfury Vertex² feeds a 4K HDR signal to a 1080p projector, an old AVR, a capture card or a Hue sync box on TX1 while the 4K TV on TX0 still gets full 18 Gbps — or gives an old 1080p source a clean 4K output that a 4K-only matrix will accept. Scaling adds less than 1 ms.
How to use it on the Vertex²
Web server → SCALER: 'No scaling' (pass-through), 'Auto scaling' (follows the EDID of each output — recommended), or 'Custom scaling' with per-output rules for resolution, colour space and deep colour. 'Do not upscale for TX0' keeps 1080p sources native on TX0. OLED menu → SCALE MODE.
