Tmax / Tmin (DV datablock luminance)
The maximum and minimum brightness you tell a Dolby Vision player your display can show.
What is it?
The Dolby Vision block in an EDID contains the display's peak luminance (Tmax, e.g. 1000 nits), black level (Tmin, e.g. 0.005 nits) and colour primaries. A player uses them as the target for its LLDV tone mapping — everything brighter than Tmax is compressed, everything darker than Tmin is lost.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
This is the main tuning knob for LLDV on the HDfury Vertex². Projector owners set Tmax close to the real peak (300–600 nits) for a punchier picture; TV owners use the panel's measured peak (1000–2000); 10,000 effectively switches the player's tone mapping off. Tmin 0.0005 suits OLED, 0.005 projectors/LCD.
How to use it on the Vertex²
Web server → HDR/DV → DV datablock creator → Max luminance / Min luminance / Primaries → Create → Send DV, with EDID mode Automix + 'Custom DV string'. Restart the source after each change.
