HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.2
The copy protection on HDMI; a mismatch between versions gives a black screen.
What is it?
HDCP encrypts the HDMI link between source and display. HDCP 1.4 came with HD; HDCP 2.2 is required for most 4K content (Netflix 4K, UHD Blu-ray, Apple TV 4K). A 4K source will refuse to play — black screen, 'HDCP error' — if any device in the chain (AVR, matrix, projector) only supports 1.4. Older devices cannot be upgraded.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
The HDfury Vertex² contains 15 HDCP engines and decrypts every input first, then re-encrypts each output individually as HDCP 2.2, HDCP 1.4 or not at all. That is the 'HDCP Doctor': a 4K HDCP 2.2 source plays on an HDCP 1.4 projector, AVR or matrix, and an HDCP 1.4 source is accepted by a strict 2.2-only display.
How to use it on the Vertex²
It works automatically. To force HDCP 1.4 on the outputs (faster handshakes, older gear): OLED menu → HDCP → 1.4, or web server → CONFIG → HDCP output. The OLED RX/TX lines show '1.4' or '2.2' for every signal.
