S/PDIF optical (TOSLINK) and analog L/R
The combined 3.5 mm jack outputs stereo analog or 5.1 digital optical sound.
What is it?
S/PDIF is the older digital audio connection (optical TOSLINK or coaxial) limited to stereo PCM and compressed 5.1 (Dolby Digital, DTS). The Vertex² has a 2-in-1 3.5 mm socket: plug in a mini-TOSLINK optical cable for digital 5.1, or a 3.5 mm stereo jack for analog left/right. Lossless formats (TrueHD, DTS-HD) cannot fit in S/PDIF and are only available on HDMI.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
Perfect for soundbars, older stereo amplifiers, headphone amps or a second zone: the HDfury Vertex² de-embeds the audio from any HDMI input (or from the TV via ARC) and outputs it here at the same time as on HDMI. Volume, bass and treble of the analog output can be set from the OLED menu.
How to use it on the Vertex²
Use the 'SPDIF + L/R OUT' jack. OLED menu → ANALOG VOLUME / BASS / TREBLE. Web server → CEC page for ARC-to-optical routing; EDID 'SPDIF' tables limit the source to formats that fit.
